Overall location plan

Crossing point and new footway Nr Brickmakers Road - Crossing points Nr Finches Close and Vears Lane

Parish Councils, although having no statutory powers to make decisions on highways matters, do have the ability to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations.

The Parish Council has been working with officers at Hampshire County Council in regard to community lead initiatives on Church Lane.  The County Council has introduced this new initiative to provide an opportunity for Parish Councils, along with local community groups, to be able to fund a range of traffic measures that fall outside the scope of County Council funding.

Limited budgets now mean Highway Authority funded traffic measures can only generally be considered at locations where accidents resulting in personal injury have occurred.

A meeting with Hampshire Highways identified that installing Informal ‘courtesy crossings’ for pedestrians at Church Lane would be acceptable under this scheme and would highlight the most suitable place at which to cross the road.  The proposals also include improvements to the bus stop location Nr Brickmakers Road.

This works will require to funded by Parish Council funds which comes from the Precept contained in your Council Tax bill.  The Parish Council would like YOUR VIEWS on whether you think these works should go ahead which are estimated to cost around £17,000.

You can view the proposed works on the by clicking on the links at the top of the page.

The Parish Council cannot represent your views without your input.

Please come along to the Annual Parish Assembly on Wednesday, 23rd May 2018 in the Community Centre from 7pm to feedback on these proposal, your also your views on a Parish Council awarding a grant to Action Against Destruction Development and give your views on other aspirations for your village.
